Birthday Week Fun: Round 2

For day two of our birthday fun, Natalie and I decided we'd treat ourselves to some pretty summery flowers. Because there's something kind of special and exciting about buying flowers for yourself!

My trip to the flower shop was a little underwhelming, but I did manage to come away with the last two bunches of not-yet-fully-bloomed pink peonies (those are peonies right? I'm a lot better with herbs and such than flowers).

Also, would you believe that that vase is made of...wait for it...rubber! It's so fantastic, finally a vase I can't break!

Meanwhile, Natalie opted for a different kind summery flower...

(Hey, it's Natalie now!) Since the sun has finally graced us with its presence all week here in NY, I thought it only appropriate to buy myself a cheerful bunch of sunflowers. And then to sit on my fire escape and enjoy them. I also picked up these handmade flowers--made of rolled and painted newspaper--from a local artist at the Brooklyn Flea Market about a year ago, and thought they'd add some nice color to my birthday bouquet.

When's the last time you bought yourself flowers?

  3. Yes, those are peonies. They are my favorite late spring/early summer flower and I'm quite sad that I can't find them anymore because they are available for such a short season.

Thanks for the eye candy and I'm so happy I've stumbled upon your blog.
