Inspired By... {Thanksgiving Edition}

So here's a little sneak peek at my idea gathering for our giant annual Thanksgiving bash next week. If our party turns out to be half as pretty as a single one of these pictures, I will consider myself a very happy hostess.

...a perfect not-perfectly-styled Thanksgiving tabletop. That just happened to give me the inspiration I needed for our color scheme (the napkins) and dark, moody feel this year.

photo and styling by Giulia Doyle for A Subtle Revelry

...a sweet little place setting whose colors, again, are just what I was looking for.

...an easy-to-make-yourself tablecloth option that would make one heck of a cool statement under the turkey.

Photo by Lauren O'Neill of a Sunday Suppers table

...light strands hanging beautifully over an indoor table. Somehow, I will pull this off.

...the dip to beat out all other Thanksgiving appetizers. (And hey, look at that, it even almost sticks to the color scheme)

Photo and recipe by Jamie Cooks It Up

...hanging table decorations that I would totally replicate in my wildest dreams... (the colors and vibe I can shoot for, though.)

It's funny, I didn't really have a clear idea of what I wanted this year's party to look like until I started pinning. Then it all just sort of magically fell together. And jived. Pinterest, I tip my hat to you.

...the best diy I've seen all week. And the winner of my I'm-gonna-make-you-for-our-Fall-Day-of-Fun-surprise contest that I ran with myself.

Photo by Pretty Simple Productions, tutorial by Oh Happy Day

...diy natural room scents to make your home smell like fall, even if maybe what it really needs is a deep clean. (Tooootally not talking about our apartment right now.)

Photo and tutorial by Inspired to Share

...cute little kitchen towels that I wouldn't be embarrassed to have hanging on our oven. Unlike the one we have from Micha's mom with Christmas bears on it.

Available at Poketo

...a sweet and simple addition to a Halloween party. Or a Fall Day of Fun...

Photo and tutorial by A Subtle Revelry

...adorable knit pumpkins that I wish I were clever - and quick - enough to do myself.

Available at Luna Cab Co

...Once again: salted caramel. But this time with apple slices arranged in mosaic form. Yeah.

...sweet words from an adorable little shop.

Print available at Unraveled Design

...the possibly perfect dessert for our upcoming Fall Day of Fun (easy to make, feeds many, looks Halloween-y but not kiddish).

Photo and recipe by Natalie of The SoHo

...natural nail polish with a lovely label and a fabulous name. My aunt's got me on a natural nail polish kick and after trying Butter London, I'd like to give these ones a try next.

Nail polish from Scotch Naturals, available in Germany at All for Eves

...salted caramel and whiskey. Enough said.

Photo and recipe by Bakers Royale

...some cutely branded natural hair-care goodies - go big or go home right? While Micha would hate the website name (Yes to Carrots - his vegetable nemesis ;), he'd be all over the Yes to Tomatoes bottle, and the cucumber one has me dreaming of fresh-smelling hair all winter long.

Hair-care product by Yes to Carrots, available in Germany at Green Glam

... drool-worthy melty-center chocolate cakes that I'm pretty sure I'll have to whip up this weekend as Micha will surely request them after reading this (at least, that's certainly what I'm hoping for :).

...a living room that is totally not my style (there's no chartreuse!), but that I'm finding myself swooning over. That plushy sofa, those knitted pillows, and the calm color palette. I'm sold.

...an iphone case that is cracking me up. Yep, every time I see it.

Previously available at Kate Spade

...the patience people can have to make beautiful things. Like this city made of staples--only staples, standing up. I envy the willpower.

...an ombré wall!! This is kind of blowing my mind right now and I'm secretly scheming up ways to convince Micha that we really need to repaint at least a wall in our apartment like this. Quick, what's the best way to bribe an über-patient dude who may have already used up all his house-painting patience with me over the last four years (we've already painted every room!)?

Design and photo by P.S. I made this!

...the perfect twist on a ponytail that makes me long for long hair again.

Hair by Caroline Ventura, photo by Jamie Beck for A Cup of Jo

...an envy-enducing, colorful, yet not too busy or overwhelming frame wall.

...summer cocktail perfection (I already tested out the recipe and it tastes even better than it looks!).

Recipe and photo by Smith & Ratliff

...a calming blue and white bedroom - what I aim for, though I worry I'm too cluttery a person for such minimalism. One day, Micha's minimalistic tendencies will win over, I hope...

Design by Mark and Sally Bailey, photo by Debi Treloar for the book Handmade Home, Living with Art and Craft

...and finally, one of the most adorable couples of all time. I think I would have loved to be their best friend based on this excerpt from her book, My Life in France, “Valentine cards had become a tradition of ours, born of the fact that we could never get ourselves organized in time to send out Christmas cards.”

...camping done right - with plenty of mosquito protection yet still a lovely view and space to walk around in. Ok, we may be going camping soon with friends, and I'm a little not-yet-so-thrilled...a girl can dream it would look like this, right?

...rugged, manly flasks, to store the booze that will keep me warm and happy (read: non-whiney, for Micha's sake) on said camping trip.

Available at Liquid Courage

...an evening beach picnic that would make me forget I was in the wild outdoors.
